MTV Networks Interactive North Europe reduces costs through migration of in-house Redmine to Planio Enterprise
With MTV, VIVA, Nickelodeon and COMEDY CENTRAL, the company MTV Networks Germany, based on the river Spree in Germany, unites four of the world’s most successful entertainment brands under one roof. The MTV Networks TV brands reach over 43 million German-speaking households. MTV and VIVA represent a complementary station portfolio of music, entertainment and lifestyle formats.
As music, entertainment and lifestyle have long since taken place not only on TV, MTV Networks works on interactive brand platforms with more than 100 programmers, web and screen designers, online copywriters, and product managers in Northern Europe alone.
In order to maintain an overview of the various, often time-critical projects and to optimally involve all employees and external service providers in the processes, the interactive North Europe Unit utilizes the software-as-a-service solution Planio Enterprise. Thanks to Planio, all persons involved can access all the important documents and data at any time and coordinate the workflow-based tasks and milestone management ideally, even across national borders. As large amounts of source code are produced in many projects, developers of MTV Networks make use of the integrally hosted Git repositories that seamlessly integrate with the development process with Planio.
The migration from Redmine to Planio was smooth and very quick
MTV Networks used its own Redmine server previously, but decided to change over to Planio that, as a pure software-as-a-service solution, not only saves costs, but also leaves you without stress. Due to the fact, that Planio and Redmine are 100% data compatible, it was no problem for the Planio team to migrate all the data and repositories.

Agile project management and plugins thanks to Planio Enterprise
Many teams at MTV Networks are working with agile project management methods now. Therefore, the individual Redmine plug-ins and adjustments that are available from the Planio Enterprise package are utilized at MTV Networks. Not only can they be used for classical tasks and milestones, but also to comfortably manage features, backlog items and sprints. Moreover, with the Enterprise package Planio can be used on an own domain with an own SSL certificate and a design adjusted to the own corporate identity.
